North Central Texas College Earns “Higher Access, Higher Earnings” Carnegie Classification

Carnegie Classification Seal

North Central Texas College (NCTC) has been recognized in the newest institutional designations released by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the American Council on Education.

In spring 2025, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the American Council on Education released the updated 2025 Carnegie Classifications, which introduced a new Student Access and Earnings Classification. As part of this release, North Central Texas College was classified in the “Higher Access, Higher Earnings” category and designated as an Opportunity College and University.

The Carnegie Classifications are the nation’s leading framework for categorizing colleges and universities and are widely used by policymakers, researchers, and higher education leaders. The new Student Access and Earnings Classification evaluates how effectively institutions serve diverse student populations and how graduates perform in the workforce after completing their education.

NCTC’s designation as a Higher Access, Higher Earnings institution underscores the college’s ongoing commitment to removing barriers to education, supporting student achievement, and strengthening the communities it serves.
