GAINESVILLE, Texas — The North Central Texas College (NCTC) Foundation has reached a significant milestone, surpassing $19 million in assets dedicated to supporting NCTC students and the future of North Central Texas College.

The milestone reflects the generosity of NCTC donors, the confidence communities place in the College, and the continued efforts of the NCTC Foundation Board and team to build, manage, and steward resources that create lasting opportunities for students.

“Reaching $19 million is a remarkable accomplishment, and it gives us an even stronger foundation from which to invest in student success for years to come,” said NCTC Chancellor Dr. Brent Wallace. “This achievement represents so much more than a dollar amount. It represents the generosity of our donors, the confidence our communities have in NCTC, and, most importantly, opportunities for our students.”

The Cooke County College Endowment Foundation was established on October 17, 1984 under the leadership of Dr. Alton Laird, the College President, Rodger Boyce, Director of Development, David Howeth, Chairman of the Board, Dr. Milton Dickson, Vice Chairman of the Board and William Powell, M.D. board member.  The purpose of the foundation was to receive and hold in trust money, property, goods and any other valuable things for the benefit of the college and for the benefit of programs encouraging and supporting students in attendance at the college.  In 1995, the Foundation changed its name to North Central Texas College Foundation to mirror the college’s name change.

Over the past 43 years, the Foundation assets have grown to support the college, student scholarships and emergency aid needs.  Presidents of the NCTC Foundation have included Roger Martin, Ed Wright, Ryan Morris and the current President, Phil Neelley.

“Thanks to their leadership, the commitment of our past and present board members, and the tremendous generosity of our donors and communities, the Foundation has been able to award more than 30,553 scholarships valued at over $12.5 million,” said NCTC Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of the NCTC Foundation Debbie Sharp. “What an incredible legacy of changing lives through education.”

Through scholarships, emergency assistance, program support, and other investments, the NCTC Foundation works to remove financial and other barriers that can prevent students from enrolling, remaining in college, and completing their education.

The Foundation’s support makes a tangible difference in the lives of NCTC students and strengthens the communities they go on to serve.

“This is truly something for all of NCTC to celebrate,” Wallace said. “We are grateful to everyone whose generosity and hard work made this milestone possible, and we look forward to what we can accomplish together for our students and our communities.”
