NCTC Establishes Grant W. Simpson Jr. Red River Promise Scholarship

Grant Simpson Scholarship

NCTC is honored to announce the establishment of the Grant W. Simpson Jr. Red River Promise Scholarship, established by Karen Simpson in memory of her late husband, Dr. Grant W. Simpson Jr., alongside their children, Owen Simpson, Grant W. Simpson III, and Kyle Simpson.

A man of intellect, compassion, and service, Dr. Simpson was born in San Angelo, Texas, and dedicated his life to the betterment of others. A proud graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree before continuing his studies at the University of Texas, where he earned his master’s degree. His pursuit of knowledge culminated in a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, where he built a distinguished career as an educator and scholar.

Throughout his career, Dr. Simpson served in a variety of roles, including teacher, principal, professor, and ultimately Dean. Among his proudest professional accomplishments was partnering with Harvard University to establish the Principal’s Center at Texas A&M. In each of these roles, he touched the lives of students and colleagues through his passion for learning and his belief in the transformative power of education. His dedication to shaping minds and fostering a lifelong love of learning defined his career and left a lasting impact on those he served.

The Grant W. Simpson Jr. Red River Promise Scholarship carries that commitment forward by helping NCTC students pursue higher education and build a brighter future. Through this generous gift, Karen Simpson is creating meaningful opportunities for students while honoring her husband’s lifelong dedication to learning, service, and helping others.

NCTC invites our community to honor Dr. Simpson’s memory by supporting educational opportunities for future generations.
