NCTC Denton Foundation Launches 2026 Scholarship Campaign

NCTC Denton County Foundation Scholarship Campaign

The NCTC Denton County Foundation Board recognized its generous donors and community partners on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the NCTC Denton Campus. The event highlighted the critical role scholarships play in helping students overcome financial barriers and complete their education, while also strengthening the local workforce and economy.

“At North Central Texas College, we serve students who are ready to work hard and build better lives, but too often financial challenges stand in their way,” said Debbie Sharp, Executive Director of the NCTC Foundation and Vice Chancellor of External Affairs. “The goal of this campaign is simple: to increase the number of Denton County students receiving scholarships and make college more accessible for those who need it most.”

Sharp emphasized that the campaign extends beyond financial support, aiming to create lasting impact across the region by equipping students with the skills and education needed to succeed.

NCTC Vice Chancellor of Extension Campuses, Dr. Jessica DeRoche, reinforced the college’s community-centered mission and its direct connection to workforce development.

“At NCTC, we are a college built for the community,” said DeRoche. “We are not only educating students; we are preparing the workforce that powers our local economy. Our graduates become the nurses, skilled trades professionals, first responders, and business leaders who keep Denton County moving forward.”

The program also featured remarks from local business leaders and donors who underscored the importance of investing in education as a pathway to long-term economic stability.
Matt Friess, NCTC Denton Foundation Board Vice President and local State Farm agency owner, spoke to the direct impact of NCTC on the regional workforce.

“When we invest in students here in Denton County, we’re not just helping someone earn a degree—we’re strengthening the long-term stability of our community,” Friess said. “Scholarships can be the difference between a student having to pause their education or staying on track.”

Inaugural sponsors for the campaign included DATCU, Dustin Office Machines, Helm Publishing, Liberty Landscape Management, Matt Friess – State Farm, Merki & Associates, Point Bank, and Wood, Tucker, & Weatherly PC.
