NCTC and Safran Seats Launch Machining and Welding Bootcamps to Strengthen Local Workforce Skills
Gainesville, TX – North Central Texas College (NCTC), in partnership with Safran Seats, welcomed three Safran employees to campus on Monday, June 1, 2026, to begin an intensive summer training initiative designed to strengthen technical skills in machining and welding. The employees, all part of the local aircraft seating manufacturer, are the first cohort to participate in the new upskilling collaboration.
Developed jointly by NCTC’s Continuing Education and Industrial Technology departments, the bootcamps provide both foundational and advanced training in machining and welding. Curriculum topics include hands-on equipment operation, blueprint reading, and technical mathematics skills identified as high-priority needs within the region’s manufacturing sector.
Sara Flusche, Dean of Instruction for Continuing Education and eLearning, and Darrell Smith, Dean of Instruction for Career and Technical Education – Industrial Technology, worked closely with Safran Seats to Design programs that directly support workforce development goals. The summer bootcamps also create a pathway for continued learning through Fall 2026 and into Spring 2027.
“These trainings offer skill sets that provide students a viable education as well as the opportunity to advance and be successful in their employment roles,” said Sara Flusche, Dean of Instruction for Continuing Education and eLearning at NCTC. “It is important to our future workforce that we invest in technical training addressing the skills in demand today. We work to define training programs for both large and small businesses and industry partners across all our service areas.”
The initiative reflects NCTC’s commitment to supporting local employers, strengthening regional workforce pipelines, and expanding access to high-quality technical education.
