AG Scholarships

The Agriculture Department of NCTC in Gainesville, Texas offers several $1,000 Agriculture scholarships each year.

Scholarships, notably Friends of Agriculture and Henry Spaeth scholarships, recognize students in all branches of the Agricultural department who possess outstanding leadership qualities, communication skills, notable personal character, and demonstrate active community involvement.

Horticulture Scholarships

The Cooke County Master Gardeners Scholarship, which annually awards $600 preferably to a horticulture or a student majoring in other agricultural related or science fields, is also available through the Foundation.

 Not just Horticulture.

Scholarships may also be awarded to candidates that apply for competition on the Ranch Horse Team.

 

In addition to money for tuition and room and board, scholarships for students in the Equine programs may also provide board money for a horse at the NCTC Equine Center.

Northeast Texas Nursery Growers Association: Mary Moser Scholarship

Mary Moser Scholarship fund was set up to honor Mary Moser who was extremely active in NTNGA. This scholarship is intended to assist Texas college students with their tuition and books, then upon graduation enter the horticulture industry. The first Mary Moser Scholarship was awarded in 1998. Mary and her husband Troy are owners of Whitehouse Gardens Wholesale Nursery in Whitehouse, Texas.

Texas Nursery & Landscape Association

The TNLA Education and Research Foundation mission is "to advance in the broadest sense the environmentally beneficial use of plants, and the interest to the nursery/landscape industry in Texas, through funding education and research". The scholarship foundation was created in 1992, awarding scholarships in varying amounts.

The Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund

Grants for Students to Study Organic Agriculture: $2,500 grants for up to 30 individuals. Vocational and higher education grants are available for students enrolled in educational programs that will benefit their future careers in organic production or in becoming an organic professional.

The Grow Texas Scholarship Program

The Grow Texas Scholarship Program (GTSP) was established to increase educational opportunities for individuals committed to advancing the Texas agriculture industry. 

In accordance with this goal, GTSP assists in supporting students who are enrolled in a Texas institutions of higher education and who demonstrate a commitment to promoting the agriculture industry upon graduation, through both traditional and diversified career choices that may affect agriculture.

Tri-County Agriculture Scholarship

Cooke, Grayson, & Montague Youth Only

Award Components
One (1) $500 scholarship will be awarded to each county that has an applicant who qualifies, FFA, or 4-H youth.

Purpose
To support exemplary youth who major in an Agriculture background.

Criteria
Can only be a youth from Cooke, Grayson or Montague Counties. Must be majoring in Agriculture from an accredited College or University.

Tom Harpool Scholarship

The Tom Harpool Horticultural Scholarship was created to assist and encourage students enrolled in the study of horticulture or other gardening-related subjects. The $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to any Denton County resident who is currently enrolled in a horticulture or related major at any college or university. The scholarship is typically funded through proceeds from the annual DCMGA Plant Sale and Garden Tour. The Denton County Master Gardeners may provide additional $1000 scholarships depending on benefactor donations and successful fund raising.
