International Students

Below are a series of frequently asked questions about International Admissions at NCTC. Please read through and if you have any further questions reach out to us as soon as possible.

  • All documents from out-of-country applicants can be sent to international@nctc.edu. 

    Transfer and Part-Time students will receive a link to upload their documents.

  • International student forms are available on our website.

  • If you wish to transfer out of NCTC, you will need to email the following things to international@nctc.edu:

  • Drops will take place on the last working Monday of each month (based on the schedule listed above for Fall, Spring, and Summer) for students with account balances and/or no payment arrangements. Once classes begin, a final drop will take place on each semester/term’s Official Date of Record for students who still have an account balance and/or no payment arrangements.

  • You can visit the On-Campus Employment page of the Career Services website for more information about getting an on-campus job!

  • No, NCTC does not accept Duolingo scores as proof of English language proficiency at this time.

  • Once we have received all your required documents and you have been accepted to NCTC, the international office will issue your initial I-20 and send it to you via email.

    Remember to sign the bottom of page one so that it is valid when you enter the U.S.!

  • No, NCTC does not offer health insurance to international students, however, many students have reported positive experiences with ISO!

  • You don’t!

    International Admissions will take care of all your course registration. The only thing we need is an email from you or an academic advisor stating which courses you would like to take!

  • While there are no scholarships specifically for international students, you may be eligible for some of NCTC’s other scholarships.

  • F-1 students are only eligible for an SSN after they have accepted work in the U.S.. through an on-campus position, CPT, or OPT job.

    Please reach out to our office if you are hired for an on-campus position or need to request an SSN for CPT employment!

  • No, students who arrive later than the first day of classes are at risk of being dropped from their courses and could lose their F-1 status.

  • First, you should submit a Travel Reporting Form to international@nctc.edu. Our office will confirm if you have a travel endorsement signature on page 2 of your I-20 and let you know if any other steps need to be taken.

    These are the documents you should bring with you:

    • Valid I-20 with a travel endorsement signature on page 2.
    • A passport valid for at least 6 months past your dates of travel.
    • A class schedule or transcript showing that you are enrolled for the following semester if you are traveling during semester breaks.
  • Yes, some housing is available on campus, however it is extremely limited and only on the Gainesville campus. International students should not depend on getting on-campus housing as student athletes receive priority and there may not be any leftover spots.
