The Completion Center hosts the local NCTC NSLS Chapter and the Spring 2022 Induction Ceremony.

Membership

Once a you have completed membership into NSLS, you will complete the following steps to become an Inducted Member.  Remember you don't have to complete your steps to induction in one semester.  Membership to NSLS is a "Life Time" membership.:

  • Orientation
    This is the first Virtual event on campus for new members to learn the steps of the program and the schedule of events for the term.

  • Leadership Training Day
    Members attend an interactive Virtual video training session where they identify goals and overcome obstacles.

  • Three Speaker Broadcast Events
    Virtual Live streamed events with leaders, celebrities and best-selling authors are scheduled six times per academic year.

  • Three Consecutive Success Networking Team Meetings
    Peer to Peer Accountability and Goal Setting sessions with other members. Virtual meetings are organized by the NSLS Manager.

Once you have completed all steps your membership kit will be sent. All membership kits are processed on the 1st and 15th of each month. 

  • Induction Ceremony: There are two Induction Ceremony in the academic year

    • Fall: December

    • Spring: May

    • You will attend one Induction Ceremony.

When you are inducted into the NATIONAL SOCIETY OF LEADERSHIP & SUCCESS: Sigma Alpha Pi Chapter at North Central Texas College; you are qualified to wear the cord along with your NCTC regalia at graduation.

 NSLS FAQs

  • The National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi, is the largest collegiate leadership honor society in the United States, with more than 650 chapters and more than a million members nationwide. It is also the first program of its kind to earn accreditation for their programs.

    The NCTC Chapter was established in 2015.

    The NSLS provides a step-by-step program for members to build their leadership skills through participation at their campus. Upon completion of the program, members receive their Foundations of Leadership certificate and take their place among student leaders at their campus and across the country. Inducted members can list their affiliation on all statements of personal accomplishment, including their resume.

    Membership is for life and provides access to benefits including scholarships and awards, exclusive on-campus events, employer recruitment through an online job bank, and discounts on computers, textbooks, grad school prep courses, insurance and much more.

  • Students at NCTC are selected for membership by their academic standing and leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction.

  • There is a deadline to join; but if you miss the deadline contact the NCTC NSLS Manager.

  • NSLS members pay a one-time registration fee of $95 when joining the organization for the Foundations of Leadership Certification. Membership does not expire or require renewal.

  • Once a student has enrolled into the NSLS, she/he is considered a member with access to certain benefits. To become an inducted member, a student must complete the following steps:

    FYI: When you are inducted into the NATIONAL SOCIETY OF LEADERSHIP & SUCCESS: Sigma Alpha Pi Chapter at North Central Texas College; you are qualified to wear the cord along with your NCTC regalia at graduation.

  • The steps towards induction take an estimated 10-12 hours. While most members do finish their steps towards induction in a single semester, a member may take longer if needed.

  • Invitations are sent one or two times per academic year. Once invited, that student’s invitation remains active throughout their time at the campus. Students who do not receive a formal invitation may apply online by emailing the NCTC Manager and including a faculty recommendation and brief personal statements your leadership abilities and why you would like to join NSLS. The statement must be no more than 2 pages double spaced 12-point font.

  • The NSLS was the first organization of its kind to become accredited as a leadership development program and honor society by AdvancED, the parent organization to:

    1. Northwest Accredited Commission (NWAC)

    2. North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI)

    3. Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI)

Once you have been inducted; we invite you to participate in this networking group.  Membership is free.  If you are interested, please contact the NCTC NSLS Manager or Amy Klohn.  We will be working with you to form this group and all ideas welcome.
