Lion Book Bundle

Textbooks. Day one. Made easy.

In Spring 2026, NCTC is introducing the Lion Book Bundle, a one-stop book rental program. This seamless program will deliver your books by the first day of class, so you’re prepared and ready to succeed. At just $24 per credit hour, the Lion Book Bundle averages a savings of 35 - 50% throughout your academic journey. All students will be automatically enrolled into the program at registration, but it is not required. Students have the option of opting out by the end of the drop/add period. Our Lion Book Bundle program makes getting your course materials more convenient and affordable.

  • Receive all your course materials before the first day of class

  • Delivered for your convenience at your home or pickup at the bookstore

  • Save 35-50% on the cost of course materials each term

  • Benefit from a highly personalized service

Opting Out

Lion Book Bundle is designed to help NCTC students easily obtain their course materials at a discounted price, but we certainly understand that it may not fit every student. Frequently Asked Questions

Lion Book Bundle Program

  • The Lion Book Bundle helps you get all your class books and online materials easily and on time.
You pay one set price for all your books each semester at $24 per credit hour.
You’ll get everything you need before classes start — no waiting or guessing what to buy.

Physical books you get from the bookstore are rentals, so you return them at the end of the semester.
You’ll get reminder emails when it’s time to return them.

    1. Sign up for classes. The bookstore will get your materials ready.

    2. Watch your email. About a month before classes start, you’ll get a message asking you to select if you want your books shipped to you or picked up in the store on the NCTC Gainesville campus.

    3. Get your books. You’ll get an email when your order is ready.

    4. Digital books. If your class uses eBooks, you’ll find them in your classes in Canvas.

  • All students taking college credit classes are automatically part of the Lion Book Bundle program.

This includes students in degree programs and certificate programs.

Students taking non-credit or Continuing Education classes are not included in the program.

  • All the required books, eBooks, lab manuals, and access codes for your classes.

  • Items you use up or can’t return — like lab goggles, dissection kits, nursing, cosmetology or welding kits, and other one-time supplies.

  • No — you’re already enrolled! Every eligible student is automatically part of the program. But you do need to choose your shipping option!

  • Yes. You can choose to opt out of the Lion Book Bundle program if you don’t want to take part. This means you will need to buy your books a la carte though the NCTC bookstore or through another vendor.

Each semester, the opt-out window opens one month before full-term (16-week) classes begin and closes on the Friday of the first week of full-term classes.

    If you opt out:

    • You won’t get your books and materials in one easy package.

    • You’ll need to buy your own books and access codes.

    • Online (digital) materials will be turned off after the opt-out window closes.

To opt out, visit the link provided in your email or go to the opt-out page.

  • Yes — you can change your choice before the opt-out window closes. Use the same link or email instructions to opt back in.

  • If you opt out, you’ll need to buy your books yourself through the bookstore website or another vendor of your choice.

  • You must return rented books by the last day of final exams.
You’ll get reminder emails before they’re due.

  • Yes. You can choose to buy them at a lower price during the semester.

  • You will return your rented book at the end of the term, and the bookstore will give you the same book again next semester.  If you had an access code, you will be given a new access code the next semester. You will be charged again for the book or access code the next semester.

  • If you don’t opt out or confirm, your materials will automatically be sent to the Gainesville bookstore. Your student account will still be charged.

  • You’ll still be charged, your physical books will remain at the Gainesville bookstore and your digital books will be available in your online class system.

  • Return physical books for that class within 48 hours.
If you add a new class, the bookstore will swap out your materials for the correct ones.

  • Book rentals and access codes are good for the semester so you will not be given a refund.

  • Yes. You have 48 hours to return your books if you decide to opt out within the opt-out window.
If you don’t return them, the charge stays on your student account, and there may be extra fees.

Payment

  • The cost is $24 for each credit hour you take during the semester.

This one flat rate covers all your textbooks and online access codes, no matter how many you need.

The charge will be added to your NCTC student bill. You do not pay this money to the bookstore. It will show up just like your other college fees.

  • The book fee will be added to your account after the Official Date of Record for the 16-week full-term semester.

That means it will not appear right when you register, but a little later in the semester.

To see the Official Date of Record and other important dates, visit the NCTC Academic Calendar

  • If you get financial aid or scholarships, that money will first be used to pay your tuition, college fees, and then your book fees.

These charges are all on your NCTC student account, so you do not need to pay the bookstore directly.

Your aid will be applied to your account before any refund is sent to you, so if your aid covers all costs—including books—you may not owe anything extra.

  • Yes, the Red River Promise will now cover the $24 per credit hour book fee for students who are Promise eligible and attending NCTC.
The book charge will be added to your NCTC bill each semester. If you receive financial aid or other scholarships, those funds will be used first to pay your tuition, fees, and book costs.

Because Red River Promise is a last-dollar scholarship, Promise funds will only cover what is left after other aid has been applied. If your financial aid or scholarships already pay for your tuition and book fees in full, Promise will not duplicate that payment. If you still owe a balance, Promise will cover the remaining cost.
