Pharmacy Technician Program Overview

In this Occupational Skills Award program, you will gain an overview of the qualifications, operational guidelines, and job duties of a Pharmacy Technician. This program includes solving pharmaceutical calculation problems encountered in the preparation and distribution of drugs, the study of therapeutic agents, their classifications, properties, actions, and effects on the human body and their role in the management of disease, overview of federal and state laws governing the practice of pharmacy, the role of the pharmacy technician and the pharmacist and their associated responsibilities, drug interactions, terminology, and dosage calculations. Successful completion of our Pharmacy Technician program enables students to work in retail and hospital pharmacies. This program will prepare you for certification.

The Pharmacy Tech program requires 144 lecture/lab contact hours and 112 hours of externship. Tuition includes textbooks.
