Speaker Bio:
Mark Laber has served as an Adjunct Professor of Business at North Central Texas College since Spring 2023, where he draws on more than three decades of leadership and management experience to prepare students for real-world challenges in teamwork, leadership, and decision-making.
Before entering higher education, Mark spent nearly 30 years at Toshiba’s Industrial Motors and Drives Division in Houston, TX, where he rose from application engineer to Vice President and General Manager. In that role, he led a $500M global business with more than 1,000 employees and five manufacturing facilities across the U.S., Canada, and Vietnam. His responsibilities spanned sales, operations, marketing, service, and customer support, giving him extensive experience managing diverse teams, navigating complex negotiations, and resolving conflicts across cultural and organizational lines.
Mark’s professional journey also includes experience as an engineer, high school teacher in physics and mathematics, CASA volunteer, and youth leader at his local church. This combination of technical expertise, executive leadership, and community service gives him a unique perspective on collaboration and communication in both professional and personal settings.
He holds an MBA, a BS in Electrical Engineering, and a BS in Mathematics, along with executive leadership training from INSEAD and the Aspen Institute. Now based in Denton, TX, Mark enjoys sharing his real-world business experience with students to give them a head start in their academic and career journeys.
