VTHT 1209 - VETERINARY NUTRITION

Fundamentals of energy and non-energy producing nutrients, their sources and functions. Integration of concepts including digestion, absorption, and metabolism with application to normal and therapeutic nutritional needs.

Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

  • Identify energy and non-energy producing nutrients, their sources and functions; 

  • Describe the role nutrition plays in disease processes

  • Compare anatomy and physiology of the digestive system to the nutritional needs of domestic animals.

Prerequisites: (Program prerequisites) BIOL  1406 or 1408; MATH 1314 or 1324; ENGL 1301 or 2311; VTHT 1301 

Restrictions: Grade “C” or better in prerequisite courses
