NCTC Invited to Join Course Sharing Program

NCTC has been invited by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to join ten Texas community colleges in launching a statewide Course Sharing program that will increase access to online courses for students enrolled in Texas colleges and universities. As part of this project, NCTC students will have the opportunity to co-enroll in partnering community colleges and complete online academic, career, and technical courses that will count towards certificate and degree completion.

The shift to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the value of online course options and technology-enhanced teaching for higher education students. This is especially important considering the growing number of non-traditional students entering higher education, who often juggle family and employment responsibilities. The flexibility provided by digital learning through a statewide course sharing model becomes even more significant in meeting their needs.

The demand for expanded access to online courses and credentials remains high. This course sharing initiative plays a crucial role in helping students discover additional online course options and successfully complete their degrees. It also contributes to increasing college enrollment and granting students access to innovative teaching methods and highly skilled faculty.
