> OFFICE OF INSTRUCTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS
The Office of Instructional Effectiveness (OIE)’s mission is to promote student learning and success by supporting best assessment practices and promoting continuous improvement in student learning. The OIE also works to refine the procedures and mechanisms that support instructional assessment and data collection processes.
NCTC’s Institutional Effectiveness efforts are organized and coordinated by the Office of Instructional Effectiveness, under the leadership of the Provost, and the Office of Research and Reporting, under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor of Fiscal Affairs.
Accreditation
NCTC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Accreditation is a process of self and peer assessment that typically occurs every five to ten years and ensures that institutions meet acceptable levels of quality. Accreditation assures students that they receive a quality education that will be recognized by other colleges and by employers.
For part of its accreditation, NCTC must demonstrate “student achievement” by (8.1) identifying, evaluating, and publishing goals and outcomes for student achievement appropriate to its mission, its students, and the kinds of programs it offers. The institution uses multiple measures to document student success.
NCTC must also (8.2) identify expected outcomes, assesses those outcomes, and provides evidence that it seeks improvement for each of its (a) educational programs, (b) general education programs, and (c) academic and student services.
The OIE is responsible for documenting and reporting NCTC’s compliance with Standards 8.1, 8.2a, and 8.2b.
