Capuchina Represents NCTC at CRLA 58th Annual Conference in San Francisco
Gainesville, Texas – Cheryl Capuchina, a dedicated volunteer with the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) and Tutoring Services Coordinator at North Central Texas College (NCTC), recently participated in CRLA’s 58th Annual Conference, held November 12–15, 2025, in San Francisco, California. The conference provided an opportunity to deepen understanding of the field, connect with peers, and explore strategies for addressing current challenges in tutoring and learning support.
At the conference, Capuchina co-hosted a pre-conference session titled “CRLA ITTPC Tutor Training Requirements,” offering insight into best practices for tutor training programs. She also serves as ITTPC Assistant Coordinator and reviews programs for the International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC). Leading up to the conference, CRLA volunteers, including Capuchina, reviewed 175 ITTPC programs, ensuring the continued integrity and success of the certification process.
The conference also featured the selection of the 2025 Rick Sheets Outstanding Tutor of the Year Award, which recognizes exemplary student tutors who embody ITTPC’s ideals. This year’s recipient, Lauren Cinquino from Seton Hall University, shared how her experiences as a tutor have transformed her life. Capuchina currently chairs the search committee for this award and contributed to the rigorous selection process.
