Background

Casting For A Cause (CFAC) has raised $85,971 since inception in 2017. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donors and volunteers, over 96% of these funds ($82,697) have been awarded to our beneficiaries. To date, over $27,000 has been placed in the Denton County NCTC Foundation Endowment, 19 scholarships worth $16,500 have been awarded, over $21,000 has been distributed to support local north Texas Food Insecurity Programs, and almost $18,000 has been donated to veteran fly-fishing programs.

Impact

The impact Casting For A Cause is having on students in Denton County is made evident by the feedback of our scholarship recipients.

2023 Fundraising Goal

The 7th Annual Casting For A Cause event is scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2023. We have set our event fundraising goal at $40,000. We know that budgets are tight, so as you are considering your community outreach requests, it is our hope that you will include our 2023 event in your budget.

Where the Money Goes

The proceeds of the 2023 event will support the NCTC Foundation, local food insecurity programs, and the North Texas Patriot Anglers, a local organization that serves disabled veterans by utilizing the therapeutic benefits of fly tying and fly fishing.

WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR

Last year’s participant enjoyed the Shrimp Boil so it is back this year. Tickets will be included in the sponsorship packages or can be purchased separately. The Shrimp Boil will be a celebration of our scholarship recipients, as well as, the local community programs that Casting For A Cause supports.

Our Ask

There are a variety of ways to support the event in helping us reach our $40,000 goal (Corporate sponsorships, individual donations, donation of raffle prizes, purchase of raffle tickets, participation in the event).

“My career plans are to one day become an English teacher so I can have the opportunity to extend my love of writing to students and hopefully create a spark within them. I am extremely grateful for the generosity given to me through this scholarship. Thank you for choosing me as the recipient and for making my goal more achievable.” — English Teacher, Corinth, TX

“I am attending NCTC to finish my degree so I can provide a better life for my three children that are 4, 3 and 1. I have survived domestic abuse and I am working with the women’s shelter to regain control of my future. Hospitality and fine dining has always been my passion. I will be transferring to UNT in the spring to complete my bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism.” — Bailey, Denton, TX

“I am going back to school as a career change from the restaurant industry! I am looking forward to a career in computer programming!” — Joseph, Denton, TX

“My career plan is to finish my AAS here at NCTC. I want to work on my tribe reservation in Oklahoma. Specifically, IT at Winstar. Scholarships mean a lot to me personally as it shows someone on the sideline has seen my hard work and wants to contribute toward my success. It motivates me to work harder to contribute more to my education and advance towards my future. Thank you!” — Computer Information Technology, Argyle, TX
