TRIO Student Support Services is a federally-funded college opportunity program that motivates and supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of a college degree. The program is dedicated to increasing the retention and graduation rates for low income, first-generation, and/or students with documented disabilities at North Central Texas College.

The TRIO Student Support Services program’s mission is to develop and equip historically underrepresented student populations with skills, experiences, and academic practices that assist them in achieving their educational goals. The TRIO SSS program is dedicated to providing a supportive environment that encourages student success.

The NCTC TRIO Student Support Services program will be a model program, recognized for best practices and strategies in promoting retention and graduation of its participants.

70% of all participants served by the SSS project will persist from one academic year to the beginning of the next academic year or graduate and/or transfer from NCTC to a 4-year institution during the academic year.

79% of all enrolled participants served by the SSS project will meet the performance level required to stay in good academic standing at the institution.

18% of new participants served each year will graduate with an associate’s degree or certificate within four years, and 23% of the new participants served each year will transfer with an associate’s degree or certificate within four years.

This grant has been 100% federally funded by the United States Department of Education to serve 165 participants annually.
