The Oakmont Women’s Club presented the North Central Texas Foundation with a check for $1,000 this week to fund two scholarships at the college.

The scholarship money will go to two female students in Denton County for the Fall 2021 semester, who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and financial need.

“The Oakmont Women's Club is dedicated to helping our community and NCTC is a large part of the community,” said Oakmont Women’s Club 2nd Vice President Shari Weir. “We feel like whenever we help our youth with a better education, we help our future.”

Though Covid put a stop to many fundraising events last year, the members of the club really stepped up to ensure funds were available to help NCTC and other non-profits.

“We are so grateful for the continued support, year after year, of NCTC students through the club’s scholarship donations,” said NCTC Vice Chancellor of External Affairs Debbie Sharp. “These funds will have a tremendous impact on the students that receive them.”
