As part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), North Central Texas College was able to distribute $1.78 million to approximately 5,400 students last week.

On December 27, 2020, the President signed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) (P.L. 116-260). This new law gave the

U.S. Department of Education approximately $22.7 billion to distribute to institutions of higher education in order to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.

The 5,400 students that received funds from the college represented the entire student population that were not dual-credit or non-credit students.

The CRRSSA Act requires institutions to prioritize students with exceptional need, so the NCTC Chancellor’s Cabinet designated that students eligible for Pell Grants would receive $500 and students not eligible for Pell Grants would receive $250.

According the NCTC’s Vice Chancellor of Fiscal Affairs Dr. Van Miller, the funds started going out to students on February 25, 2021.
