Graduates honored at Spring 2019 Commencement

North Central Texas College hosted a commencement ceremony on May 17 at the University of North Texas Coliseum to honor the Spring 2019 graduates.

The evening ceremony honored graduates of Health Sciences and Cosmetology programs, as well as graduates of Career and Technical Education programs, and graduates of Arts and Sciences programs.

More than 720 students applied for graduation at NCTC this spring and over 450 participated in the graduation ceremony.

Nineteen students graduated Summa Cum Laude with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 4.00. They included Emilie Louise Baker, Victoria Lynn Brown, Belen Julieta Burdette, Stephen James Burnett, William T. Coe, Jeffery Lynn Evans, Aaron H. Foley, Margaret Grace Gough, Ronda M Gunn, Alison Janae Heath, Allison Lynn Kami, Turner Chapman Meeks, Courtney Ann Neeld, Matilin Grace Rigsby, Shannon Avalon Stacy, Katelynn Leanne Steinhauser, Alyssa Nicole Stewart, Dante Jesus Villarreal, and Nathalie Wetherington.

Eighteen other students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.90-3.99. They included Nicholas John Angyal, Nabil R. Barrera, Lesley Anne Brooks, Kelly Brynn Cunningham, Kaitlyn E. Forrester, Punn Havananda, Kiely Linn Hunt, Veronica Coleen Kirts, Monica Cristina Lopez, Akiko Jeanette McCann, Daniel Cole McLean, Kody Dalton, Morgan, Julianne Murrah, Autumn Abigail Myers, Joselin Andrea Orta Aguirre, Kelsey Lynee Rhodes, Robert William Roth, and Kimberly Annette Wentrcek.

Graduates from the NCTC Honors Program included Emily Armstrong, Bergan Conner, Katherine Dunlop, Abigail Flaming, Ethan Alexander Gaston, Jasselle Alexandrea Hanson, Kiely Hunt, Autumn Myers, and Matilin Rigsby.

NCTC Provost Dr. Andrew Fisher presented the certification of graduates for the Class of 2019, and NCTC Chancellor Dr. Brent Wallace conferred the degrees.

The 2018 NCTC Faculty of the Year recipient, Sherry Smith, Biology Instructor, gave the keynote address to graduate. Special speaker Chay’vion Moore, Vice President of the NCTC Black Student Union also spoke to his fellow graduates.

The NCTC Choir, led by Shane Studdard, sang the National Anthem, and the NCTC Wind Ensemble, led by Chris McGinty, provided music before and after the ceremony.
