NCTC to host sustainability lecture

Jacob Arnold | Oct 30, 2018

The English, Speech, and Foreign Language department at North Central Texas College will be hosting a special lecture event featuring local business owner, James Combs. Mr. Combs owns a green certified, solar powered, and sustainable coffee, tea, and chocolate shop across the street from NCTC’s Corinth Campus. When you walk into Combs’ Coffee, there is a sense of reclaimed simplicity. Every detail has been considered with an environmentally conscious eye. When the coffee and cacao beans are roasting on one of the only solar powered systems in America, the atmosphere shifts, and a new sensory experience is available for all who enter.

To make your journey to cafe even more unique and worthwhile, Mr. Combs is a licensed Arabica Q Grader and international coffee judge. Getting lost in casual and easy conversation about travel, farming methods, tea types, coffee variety, true chocolate ingredients, among any other topic, makes time happily pass by. Whether it is his adventures across the globe, meeting local farmers and learning about the best products our world has to offer or growing coffee and various other items via aquaponics in his free time, the owner of Combs’ Coffee has passion and experience that he will humbly share.

On November 5, 2018 at NCTC’s Corinth Campus, Mr. Combs will speak to a crowd of students, staff, faculty and friends about living and creating artful business with environmental sustainability in mind. From 4:00 – 5:30 PM in room 364, he will teach, field questions, and offer a variety of samples of his goods. You do not want to miss a chance to hear him speak. But if you do, make sure you stop by Combs’ Coffee for a cold brew of solar roasted Javanese coffee or a purple tea and a bite of deliciously bitter chocolate.
