Graduates honored at Fall 2017 Commencement

North Central Texas College hosted two commencement ceremonies on December 15 at the Gainesville campus to honor the Fall 2017 graduates.

In an afternoon ceremony, graduates of Health Sciences and Cosmetology programs were honored. Later that evening, a ceremony was held for graduates of Career and Technical Education programs, and graduates of Arts and Sciences programs.

More than 361 students applied for graduation at NCTC this fall and 164 participated in the graduation ceremonies.

Seven students graduated Summa Cum Laude with a cumulative grade point average of 4.00. They included Allison Lopezbock, Allen Losanes, David Martin, Sara McMillan, Luke Shirley, Kaela Works, and Ann-Kathrin Zilles.

Six other students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.90-3.99. They included Arianna Bencid, Kristi Corwin, Chelsie Gerlach, Mona Isola, Ana Orozco Gutierrez, and Olivia Zant.

Graduates from the NCTC Honors Program included Sara Maharjan and Kaela Works.

NCTC Provost Dr. Andrew Fisher presented the certification of graduates for the Class of Fall 2017, and NCTC President Dr. Brent Wallace conferred the degrees. This year’s Faculty of the Year recipient Dr. Crystal Wright delivered the keynote message to the graduates.

The NCTC Choir, led by Shane Studdard, sang the National Anthem, and the NCTC Wind Ensemble, led by Chris McGinty, provided music before the ceremonies.

Phi Theta Kappa member Nathan Carter played the drums in the NCTC Wind Ensemble just moments before walking across the stage to receive his Associate of Arts Degree at NCTC’s Fall Commencement Ceremony Friday evening.


NCTC Graduate Shannon Hall

Phi Theta Kappa member and Honors Program participant Shannon Hall, of Gainesville, Texas, received her diploma Friday from NCTC Chancellor Dr. Brent Wallace at the NCTC Fall Commencement Ceremony.
