The Rotary Club of Bowie and the North Central Texas College Montague County Foundation teamed up to host their 3rd Annual Dancing to the Stars Competition, modeled after the popular television program “Dancing With the Stars.”

This year’s event raised $58,000 for scholarships. The dancing took place on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Bowie Community Center, in front of a sold-out crowd of 400 people.

Area celebrities and dancers included Michael Daily and partner Jill Hunt, NCTC Dual-Credit student Baxter Swint and partner Cade Ellis, Michelle Fenoglio and partner Jayson Toerck, NCTC Instructor Belinda Anderson and her husband Arn, Kent and Amy Stagg, and Alan and Tammie Miller.

Votes were cast for the best dancers in the form of donations. The duo that raised the most money through votes was Alan and Tammie Miller with their Western Swing routine. They were presented the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy at the end of the evening.

Dancers Baxter Swint and Cade Ellis won the People’s Choice Award with their Contemporary dance. At 18 years old, Baxter is the youngest participant in the three years of Dancing to the Stars.

“Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships and support for underprivileged students who might not otherwise be able to afford an education,” said Debbie Sharp, Executive Director of the NCTC Foundation. “The ability to obtain an education is critical to our students’ future success and to the growth of our local economy. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our students, North Central Texas College, and our entire Montague County community.”
