Notes from the Dean

Diane Roether

Diane Roether came to NCTC in July 2007 as Library Director. This position was elevated to Dean in 2014. She has over 20 years of professional library experience as well as previous work experience in public relations and information work within nonprofit, corporate, and academic environments. Her previous professional library experience includes 13 years as the supervisor of the circulation and reference departments in the library at Texas State Technical College in Waco and four years as a reference librarian at Collin College (formerly Collin County Community College) in Plano, Texas.

Ms. Roether earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from New Mexico State University, a Master of Arts degree in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Science degree in Library & Information Science from the University of North Texas. She is a member of the Texas Library Association, Beta Phi Mu (Library) Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi (Academic) Honor Society.

Diane says she considers herself a "Southwesterner" as she was born in Oklahoma, where she lived for the first eight years before moving to live in New Mexico for the next 24 years of her life. Although she also has lived in the northwestern United States, she returned to New Mexico from the state of Washington after five years and has lived in Texas since 1989.

Welcome to the North Central Texas College Libraries and the many resources available to you through our Website. Links to research databases, research help including tutorials and study guides, information on the hours of operation for each of the campus libraries, our online catalog, our intra- and inter-library loan services, and NCTC library policies are just a few of the many services we offer. We have also provided links which provide access to our library staff via email or telephone or our Ask-a-Librarian form.

I encourage you to explore the Web site, and to visit our physical library locations on the Bowie, Corinth, Flower Mound, and Gainesville campuses. Whether your visit is via the web or in person, our collections can help you solve a problem and our dedicated and knowledgeable librarians and library staff look forward to helping you meet your research and information needs. Our librarians are available to teach you how to locate, evaluate, and manage information and knowledge.

Our mission is to acquire collections that support the learning and research activities of the college community and to design our services to meet the needs of you, our users, whether you are students, faculty, staff members, or members of the larger community. We welcome your comments and suggestions on how we can better achieve those goals. You may contact me via phone (940) 668-4283 or email me directly with questions and comments.

The NCTC Libraries are eager to assist you during your academic career at North Central Texas College.
