Work Study Jobs

Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Texas College Work-Study (SWS) provide part-time employment for students who are enrolled and meet the eligibility requirements. All jobs are located on various campus locations and pay $10.00 an hour.

How to Determine Eligibility

  1. Students will be required to fill out a FAFSA in order to determine eligibility for the work-study program which is based upon students financial need and complete all required (if any) verification.
  2. Go to  to view all open Work-study positions. Complete the application for the job(s) you are interested in.
  3. Your Financial Aid work-study application will be reviewed and approved through the Financial Aid department. From there it will be forwarded to the appropriate NCTC departments for screening.

Hired to Work

If chosen for the position, the hiring manager will call you to let you know that you have been hired and discuss schedule availability.

Download the work study packet and complete it. Once you have it completed, bring it in to the financial aid office along with a valid state issued identification card and your social security card.

Getting Paid

Timesheets are due the 1st of each month for the previous month. Students can work up to a maximum of 19 hours a week. Work-study Timesheets verify that you have worked the allotted numbers of hours so that payment can be made to you. Time sheets must be completed by the student and signed by his/her supervisor. Timesheets must be turned into the Financial Aid Office by noon on the 1st to be paid on the 25th. It is recommended that you keep a copy of your time sheet for your records. Work-study paychecks can either be direct deposit to your Herring Bank account or you can receive a paper check.

Late time sheets will be paid the following month.
