External Affairs provides leadership to initiatives that support the college in meeting community needs, expanding awareness of the college, and providing support for college programs and services. Included in this department is the NCTC Foundation, NCTC Alumni and Friends, Grant Development and Management, Marketing and Public Relations, and the Small Business Development Center.

The NCTC Foundation’s mission is to encourage, solicit, receive, and administer gifts and bequests of property and funds for scholarships, programs, and activities that promote North Central Texas college student success and institutional excellence. The Foundation staff also oversees departmental excellence funds which provide support for various departments throughout the college. In addition, the Foundation conducts various fundraising events and cultivation activities.


The Scholarship Office oversees the scholarship process including promotion, selections, awarding and monitoring.  Their team matches students with a scholarship based on criteria set forth by the donor. Amounts of the scholarships vary from $500 to $2,000 per academic year. The minimum eligibility requirement is a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Alumni and Friends Brand

The Alumni and Friends purpose is to encourage graduates, former students, friends of the college, former faculty/staff and other college employees to stay in touch and to lend their continuing support of the educational, cultural, athletic and social programs of North Central Texas College. 

Grant Management

The Grant Development and Management Office’s mission is to pursue external funding that is congruent with the college’s goals and its long-range plans to provide innovative and responsive programming and quality education to its students. 

Marketing & Public Relations

The Marketing & Public Relations Office's purpose is twofold.

  1. To articulate and promote the college to the general public (and particularly to prospective students) by disseminating information about NCTC’s various programs and services through print, broadcast, electronic, web-based and other media.
  2. To serve as a resource for all departments of the college for promotional materials, particularly in regard to copywriting and graphic design services.

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a partnership program with the U.S. Small Business Administration providing small businesses with the practical assistance needed to survive, grow and prosper. This program is a nationwide small business assistance network that links the resources of federal, state, and local government to those of colleges, universities, and the private sector to meet the specialized needs of small businesses. Our mission is to help new entrepreneurs realize their dream of business ownership and existing businesses to remain competitive in the complex marketplace of an ever-changing global economy.
