Electrical Technician Certificate

Level 1 Workforce Certificate (15 credit hours)

Upon completion of the Level 1 Workforce Certificate, students will be able to:

  • Apply basic electrical theory and apply it to residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of motors and generators and their application in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of control systems and their application in an industrial environment.
  • Fundamental understanding and application of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) technology.
  • Fundamental understanding of the National Electrical Code and its purpose in the industry.

This certificate can be completed with a combination of online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes. The program is designed to be completed in one semester, or 16 weeks and is comprised of the following course of study.

Capstone Requirement: Students completing the certificate must pass a comprehensive program exam and lab with a score of 70% or higher. The exam and lab will be embedded in ELPT 2319 curriculum.
