To date, $13,500 has been placed in a scholarship endowment as part of the Denton County NCTC Foundation, $9,500 in scholarships have been awarded, and $8,570 has been distributed to support local north Texas Food Insecurity Programs.

2021 Fundraising Goal

The 5th Annual Casting For A Cause event is scheduled for Saturday, October 16, 2021. We have set our event fundraising goal at $25,000. We know that budgets are tight, so as you are considering your community outreach requests, it is our hope that you will include our 2021 event in your budget.

Where the Money Goes

The proceeds of the 2021 event will support NCTC Scholarships (75%), along with local Food Insecurity Programs and the North Texas Patriot Anglers (25%). North Texas Patriot Anglers is a local organization that serves disabled veterans by utilizing the therapeutic benefits of fly tying and fly fishing.

The impact Casting For A Cause is having on students in Denton County is made evident by the feedback of our scholarship recipients.

“As a single mother, I do go through financial constraints with this scholarship I was able to afford my textbooks and I also see this scholarship as a reward for my excellent performance in my academic work. Thank you so much for this funding."—Cutie Roberts – Nursing Student

“Being a first generation college student, I am determined to obtain my degree. This scholarship is very important to me because the cost of attending college is entirely up to myself. I work between 35-50 hours a week while attending NCTC in order to pay for my classes and this scholarship helps me immensely by allowing me to take more classes and work toward my goal."—Rachel Maddalena - Engineering Technology
