NCTC offers four courses in the field of Accounting that benefit students seeking to major in Accounting at four-year institutions or working towards associate degrees in Business. Throughout the coursework, students utilize the kind of business skills that are not only used in the accounting environment but in many kinds of businesses at every level.

Instruction in Accounting introduces students to the fundamental concepts of financial accounting. These concepts are prescribed by U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and are applied to transactions and events that affect business organizations.  Students are also introduced to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and study information from an entity's accounting system. You study how decisions made by internal managers relate and differ from information available to external users.

Students study the concepts and processes of analyzing, classifying, and recording business transactions in a manual and a computerized environment. Student have hands-on experience implementing general ledger software and performing authentic accounting tasks.
