How to Apply for Housing

Housing is limited and only available on the Gainesville Campus. Applications are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Students residing in the spring or summer are not guaranteed a room in the fall and must apply separately.

Housing is no longer accepting new applications for Spring 2019. Athletes that have been approved can continue to fill out their application. Questions regarding housing can be directed to

Follow the steps below to apply for housing. Both documents (housing application and fee receipt) must be submitted at the same time in order to be placed in a room or on the waiting list, incomplete paperwork will not be accepted.

Step One: Apply to NCTC add

Students wanting to reside in housing must be accepted to NCTC. Residence Life will need a student ID number prior to being placed into a room or waiting list. To start the application process, click below to go to Admissions.

Step Two: $150 Application Fee add

To complete your application, please pay $150 for the (non-refundable) housing application fee at our secure payment site.

Only completed applications with paid application fees will be reviewed. A confirmation number will be e-mailed after payment. The confirmation number will be needed in the housing application to verify payment. If unable to pay with a credit card call the Business Office at (940) 668-4200.

Can I be a Resident Assistant (RA) if I have no prior experience? add

Previous RA experience is not required to apply for the position. Visit the Resident Assistant Application to apply.

Can I get a private room? add

Private rooms are not offered at the beginning of the semester, because we have a wait list of students needing housing.  Private rooms are offered on a first come, first serve basis throughout the semester once they become available. Having a private room in the fall does not guarantee a private room in the spring.

Residence Life Staff

The Housing & Residence Life Staff is composed of the Coordinator of Residence Life, six Resident Assistants (RA), and two nighttime desk clerks.

 Resident Assistant Applications are open

Resident Assistant are trained student-staff members who:

  • facilitate the social, academic, and personal adjustment of students to the residence hall and NCTC
  • create activities for residents 
  • develop a sense of community among residents
  • assist with on-call rotation once a week and a minimum of four weekends per semester
  • serve as a positive role model
  • enforce the rules and policies of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services.
  • act as a liaison between residents and NCTC Student Life Administration Team
  • receives free housing and meals as well as a private room

The Coordinator of Residence Life is a full-time live-in staff member who supervises and oversees the daily operations of the residence halls, responsible for housing assignments for the residence halls, intramural sports for the Gainesville Campus. The Coordinator can be reached in their office located on the second floor of Bonner Hall. Access to Bonner Hall is limited to residents only, non-residents may call the office number (940)668-4259 or e-mail the Coordinator of Residence Life. Roommate information is available after August 1/January 5.

Residence Hall Choices & Amenities

Bonner Hall and Hayes Hall Dormatories

Bonner Hall

Bonner Hall is a traditional residence hall with community restrooms.  There are 54 spaces for females and 52 spaces for male divided among four wings in the building.  The rooms are 12 foot by 15 foot with tile floors.  The rooms include: two bunk style beds, a desk, a chair, a six-drawer dresser, a vanity with medicine cabinet, two open closets, and a personal HVAC unit.  The community restrooms are cleaned daily by a contract cleaning service.

Hays Hall

Hays Hall is more like an apartment complex with rooms opening to the exterior.  There are 32 spaces at Hays Hall with eight units housing four residents.  The units have a main living room that leads off to two bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The living room and bedrooms are carpeted.  The living room is furnished with a sofa, shelving unit, and common HVAC unit.  The bedrooms are furnished with two loft-style beds; two desk; two chairs; two shelves; two 3-drawer dressers; two shelving units; and two large closets.  The restrooms include a full-size bathtub.  Residents are responsible for the cleaning of their own units.

Common Amenities

All amenities are located at Bonner Hall and may be used by all residents.  Bonner Hall has a study room, two TV lounges, two kitchens, two laundry areas, vending machines; a miniature movie theater and the main lobby with two computers, a printer, cable television, and games for residence use. The lobby is kept open until 2:00 AM for resident use. The residence halls also feature wonderful outdoor space for activities; they include: a lighted intramural field, grills, and picnic tables.

Summer Conferences & Camps

Bonner Hall will be the ideal location for your camp to stay while at NCTC or surrounding Gainesville, Texas for a convention/conference.  To plan your conference and check availability, contact Daisy Garcia at

Bonner Hall, the conference facility houses 106 people between 53 bedrooms.  The building is divided into 4 wings (13 rooms on each wing with one wing having 14 rooms) each with a community bathroom.  In addition, Bonner Hall is equipped with a conference style room; two kitchenettes (for late night campers wanting to cook); four lounges; and a central lobby complete with ping-pong table and big screen television.  Outside the facility there is plenty of room for group games to go along with an open field to play flag football soccer or kickball, basketball court; picnic tables; and grill.

Staff Rates

If your camp would like added security, trained desk clerks/over-night Resident Assistants (RAs) can be provided for the cost of $10.00 per hour to monitor the security cameras and provide rounds during the hours which your group would like.

*Staff members will be available for check-in and check-out of the group leader before and after the conference/camp begins.  This service is included in the room rate.

Summer Conference Meal Rates
