NCTC announces TCCTA Faculty Fellows

North Central Texas College is proud to announce the selection of four Texas Community College Teachers Association (TCCTA) Faculty Fellows for 2020-2021. The new Faculty Fellows are Math Professor Camy Boaz , Biology Professor Anne Coltman, English Professor Jared Ince and Adjunct History Professor Amber Sultanov.

The Texas Community College Teachers Association created the Faculty Fellows program to provide specialized professional development opportunities for new faculty members who have been teaching at their respective institutions for five years or less.  Faculty Fellows participate in a variety of activities including the TCCTA Fall Faculty Leaders Conference and the Annual Convention; special leadership development programs; legislative briefings; conversations with colleagues through Master Teacher Meet-Up groups; and web conferences on key issues in higher education.

Chancellor Brent Wallace, a strong supporter of the Faculty Fellows program, commented, “Our enthusiasm for this program reflects and enhances NCTC’s longstanding partnership with TCCTA.  The college is committed to supporting TCCTA and encouraging participation, and we are proud that our faculty responds enthusiastically to the opportunities offered.  Currently some of our faculty members have assumed leadership roles in the organization, including acting as session chairs, serving on statewide committees, and presenting at conferences. We hope that participation in the Fellows Program will encourage even wider involvement!”

The first TCCTA program in which the new Fellows will participate is the Fall Leadership Conference which will be held on line October 9-10, 2020.  The Leadership Conference program includes special Fellows only sessions on “How to be a Faculty Leader” and “Small Groups and Networking.” Former NCTC Psychology Professor Ingeborg Saenz served as a Faculty Fellow last year and found the Leadership Conference to be especially informative noting that “it was wonderful meeting colleagues from other colleges across Texas and hearing their personal and institutional current topics of interest and projects as well as their lessons learned and advice. I was happy to make what I believe will be lasting and inspiring connections, both within and outside of our institution and my field of study.”

By participating in the TCCTA Fellowship Program, the NCTC Faculty members will be part of a vibrant group of faculty leaders who are gaining understanding of the complications of the current educational environment and are developing strategic responses to meet the challenges that lie ahead.  Congratulations to Camy Boaz , Anne Coltman,  Jared Ince and Amber Sultanov as they embark upon an exciting year of engagement in statewide leadership development!
