The Gainesville Firefighters Association donated to the North Central Texas College Foundation this week to establish a scholarship fund to honor Doug Anderle, who worked as for the Gainesville Fire Department for many years. Anderle passed away in January 2016.

The Gainesville Firefighters Association has donated $13,500 to establish the Doug Anderle Scholarship Fund.

“We have been working on raising money for this scholarship for a long time, to ensure that it’s sustainable,” said Gainesville Firefighters Association President Brad Thompson. “We finally felt that we had enough money in the account and we are so happy to have it finalized for the students and for Doug.”

The scholarship will give preference to students who reside in Cooke County and are majoring in Fire Science or Agriculture. Students majoring in a technical field of study will also be considered.
