NCTC reaches record enrollment

Regents of the North Central Texas Community College District heard an enrollment update Monday at their monthly meeting from Vice Chancellor of Student Services Dr. O. John Maduko.

Maduko reported record enrollment for NCTC this semester, with 10,533 students enrolled across NCTC’s five campuses and online. This is an 8.4% increase in headcount over last year.

Faculty Senate President Robin Jett presented the board with a “Thank You” note from the faculty to thank them for the employee raise this year.

During the Chancellor’s Report, NCTC Chancellor Dr. Brent Wallace announced some minor reorganization across the college, including moving Financial Aid back under Student Services and moving the Registrar under the Department of Research and Reporting.

Vice Chancellor of Fiscal Affairs Dr. Janie Neighbors gave a financial report to the board. The board reserves total just over $14.6 million and NCTC’s interest rate is now at 1.0%.

Board Chair Karla Metzler announced the new Regent Subcommittee assignments. Christy Morris and Dick Haayen will serve on the Finance Committee. Karla Metzler, Christy Morris and Dick Haayen will serve on the Executive Committee. Jon Grime and Matt Chalmers will serve on the Buildings Committee. Patsy Wilson and Jerry Don Henderson will serve on the Student Success Committee.

Vice Chancellor of Administrative Affairs Robbie Baugh presented some minor Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) policy updates to reflect the new titles of administration. The board voted and approved those changes.

Finally, the board approved the contract of James Ouchley as an Engineering Technology Instructor.

Regents Jon Grime, Matt Chalmers and Jerry Don Henderson were unable to attend Monday’s meeting.
