Cooke County athletes sign to play at NCTC

A reception was held on North Central Texas College's Gainesville campus to celebrate the nine Cooke County athletes who have signed to play for NCTC for the 2016-2017 season. Parents, family members and coaches were present to celebrate the athletes and their many accomplishments.

Lauren Bierschenk, Valley View ISD graduate, will be playing Softball for NCTC. She played varsity Volleyball, Basketball and Softball all four years of high school. Her softball honors include being named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State 1st Team.

Also joining the NCTC Softball team from Gainesville ISD are Samantha Cable and Taylor Llano. Cable was a member of varsity softball, volleyball, basketball and track in her time at Gainesville. Her achievements in softball include being named Newcomer of the Year, All-State Academic, First Team All-District, Second Team All-District and Second Team All-Texomaland. Llano also played varsity softball, basketball and track for Gainesville.

Hayley Knabe, Era ISD graduate, will also be joining the Softball Team. Knabe played varsity basketball and tennis for all four years at Era.

Lindsay ISD graduate Scout Tatum is also going to be playing softball for NCTC. Tatum was on the varsity volleyball, cross county, track and softball teams at Lindsay.

Also recently graduated from Lindsay ISD, Andrew Dieter and Garrett Martin will join NCTC's Baseball team for the upcoming season. Dieter played football, basketball and baseball for Lindsay all four years of high school. Some of his accomplishments include being named District MVP and All-State 3B in baseball.

Martin played football and baseball for Lindsay all four years, also. He was named All-State Pitcher and District Pitcher of the Year in his tenure at Lindsay, among other achievements.

J. D. Johnson, another Valley View ISD graduate, will also be joining NCTC Baseball. Johnson played football and baseball all four years and had one home run inside the park. He was also named First Team Catcher.

Callisburg ISD graduate Kordan Ward joins these athletes on the NCTC Baseball team. Ward played varsity football and baseball while at Callisburg. His accomplishments include being named First Team All-District Pitcher.
