A North Central Texas College administrator was recently honored by the University of North Texas at the annual UNT Honors Day Convocation.

Dr. Emily Klement, NCTC's Associate Vice-President of Academic Partnerships, was honored as the Higher Education Outstanding Alumnus of the Year by the UNT College of Education.

The committee cited her leadership in community college mission, board representation on national and state groups, including Texas Women in Higher Education, the University of North Texas Alumni Association, and other boards and groups that promote higher education, workforce and economic development. She has also represented NCTC and UNT at the Southwest Educational Research Association with her research on Hispanic community college students and was invited to present her study at the AERA national conference in 2013.

Since 1950, the University of North Texas has honored exceptional students and faculty at the annual UNT Honors Day Convocation. The 2014 Honors Day program was held at the Murchison Performing Arts Center on April 4, with the newly appointed President of UNT, Dr. Neal Smatresk, welcoming the many honorees and guests.

The awards ceremony was followed by a reception for all honorees at the Murchison Center, with President Smastrek and the Honors Day Committee serving as hosts of the event.
