Anderson qualifies for IHSA Nationals again

The North Central Texas College equestrian team has had a busy past week with strong performances in competitions across Texas.

NCTC's Kodi Anderson qualified for the Intercollege Horse Show Association (IHSA) Nationals in Harrisburg, Pa., in two events after finishing third at the IHSA Semifinals hosted by West Texas A&M University. Anderson, who also qualified for IHSA Nationals last year, will be competing in both Individual Reining and Individual Open Horsemanship. She finished fifth in the nation in Open Horsemanship in 2013.

The IHSA National competition will be held May 1-4.

Riders must place in the top two at Regionals to advance to the Semi-inals. This year, NCTC had seven riders qualify for Regionals including Kodi Anderson (Reining and Open), Tyler Stacey (Open), Kendra Cooley (Advanced), Lissa Visconty (Novice), Trent Harris (Intermediate), Sarah Stull (Intermediate) and Christy Petry (Beginner).

The NCTC English team had two riders qualify for Regionals as well. Jessica Lindner (Beginner) and Katlyn Kuhatschek (Intermediate Fences) both competed at the Regional competition at West Texas A&M. Kuhatschek placed second and will be traveling to Madison, Wisc., April 12-13 to try and win a spot in the National competition in Pennsylvania.

The NCTC Stock Horse team also competed this past weekend at Stephen F. Austin State University and finished second. The team included Mandy Anderson, Ashley Reeves, Kendra Cooley, Maddie Hinds, Trent Harris and Clint Johnson. Individual riders that also competed included Happy Goodson, Verena Liebhart and Kelsey Cooley. Maddie Hinds was also High Point Limited rider while Kendra Cooley was Reserve High Point in the same division.

The NCTC Stock Horse team will be traveling to Loveland, Colo., April 10-12 for the Collegiate Stock Horse Nationals. Team members competing include Amanda Anderson, Kodi Anderson, Kelsey Cooley, Kendra Cooley, Happy Goodson, Trent Harris, Maddie Hinds, Clint Johnson, Kaleigh King, Ashley Reeves and Lyndi Starr.
