GAINESVILLE-This year's annual "Friends of Agriculture Round-Up" at North Central Texas College was once again a record-breaking event.

This First State Bank-sponsored Roundup, which included a catered meal and live and silent auctions, raised $50,014 for NCTC scholarships. The total raised was a record for the 13-year event.

All proceeds from the auction will help build endowed scholarships for NCTC students studying agriculture, horticulture or equine science at NCTC. Since the first Ag auction was held in 2001, more than $290,000 has been raised.

"It's truly unbelievable," NCTC Agriculture Department Chairman Steve Keith said. "The support and generosity of members of our community is a blessing for so many including current students, future students, the Ag. Department, NCTC and the future of the agriculture industry's ability to meet the needs of a growing global population. For our faculty and staff it's truly a heart-warming blessing to see so many who possess the same passion as we do in preparing to help students afford post-secondary education in the agriculture field."

Twenty NCTC students who received Agriculture scholarships this school year were on hand to work the event and publicly thank those in attendance for support the Ag program.
