Bowie campus hosts 8th grade career days

BOWIE - Eighth grade students from seven different North Texas schools were able to learn about possible future careers during a two-day Career Day event at the North Central Texas College Bowie campus.

Approximately 250 eighth grade students attended the Career Days on Jan. 9-10. The 8th Grade Career Days are part of a program designed for the P-16 Initiative System. P-16 is the term used for a student-focuses, comprehensive and integrated system that links all education level from pre-school through the senior year of college. It is a powerful framework for policymakers to use to improve teaching and learning and thus better prepare students for living, learning and working in a changing world.

Among the careers presented were Surgical Technician, Veterinarian, Funeral Director, Veterinarian Technician, Cowboy, Artists, Physical Therapist, Radio Broadcasting Manager, Police, Paramedics, Military, Oil & Gas Technician, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Equine Science Technician, Attorney, Librarian and more.
