DRAM2366 - Film Appreciation

An introductory course in motion pictures which surveys the film industry as a business, a means of communication, but most importantly as an art form. The course places an emphasis on the analysis of the visual and aural aspects of selected motion pictures, the dramatic aspects of narrative films, and the historical growth and sociological effect of film as an art.

Looking at the Movies by Richard Barsam 2nd Edition, WWW Norton Company.

The textbook can be purchased at the NCTC Bookstore on either the Gainesville or Corinth campus or online
at a variety of booksellers.

Requirements:

Required Technology: In addition to the required text, students in this course must have access to a computer with highspeed internet access, Microsoft Word, Adobe, and software that supports jpeg, avi, and wmv files (free downloaded internet links available at the Resource Tab).


Time Requirements: Online courses require a good deal of selfdirected learning and time management. Students should expect to spend three to five hours a week reading, writing, and contributing to online discussion posts.
