ECON2302 - Principals of Microeconomics

Melissa Blankenship
Instructor

An introduction to the principles of microeconomics.  Emphasis is given to price theory, income distribution, costs and production and theory of the firm.  Other topics include, but not limited to, introductory international trade and finance, and comparative economic systems and techniques of economic analysis.

What can students expect with an online Principles of Microeconomic course?

  • Graded assignment, quizzes, and/or discussion boards typically due on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays at midnight.
    • Graded assignments may be done up to 2 times with your highest graded recorded.
    • Quizzes are timed, intended to prepare you for your 2 major exams which are also timed.  Quizzes may be taken only once.
    • 2 written article reviews are required during the semester.
  • Exams
    • 2 major exams, a midterm and a final exam, will be taken online over a prescribed course of time (a weekend for the midterm, during finals week for the final).
    • Students are expected to have their course resources prepared to use during quizzes and exams.  Exam difficulty will reflect that expectation.
    • Exams will consist of multiple choice, matching, and short answer/essay questions.
    • No makeup exams are given.
  • Students will be responsible for reading, outlining, and studying assigned chapters.
    • I post my lecture slides and lecture recordings.  You should use these tools in addition to a careful reading of the text.  Since you have the privilege of having your resources during exams and quizzes, I expect you to be thoroughly knowledgeable about those resources and the subject matter.

I am available via phone, email, and through appointments.  It will be your responsibility to contact me if you are having any issues, or need further explanation regarding economic concepts.
