Introduction to the profession of nursing including the roles of the professional nurse as provider of patient-centered care, patient safely advocate, member of health care team, and member of the profession with emphasis on health promotion and primary disease prevention across the life span, essential components of the nursing health assessment, identification of deviations from expected health patterns, the application of a systematic, problem-solving process to provide basic nursing care to diverse patients across the lifespan, and applicable competencies in knowledge, judgment, skills, and professional values within a legal and ethical framework. 48 lecture hours + 16 lab hours
