Fast Start II

Texas Work Commission Grant Fast Start II

Under the Texas Workforce Commission's Fast Start II grant, NCTC developed four Fast Start programs focusing on the Manufacturing Technologies cluster. These programs are welding, industrial mechanics, machining technology, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). These credit programs are designed so a student seeking a certificate in technical courses can complete the program 15% sooner. Since the programs are intended to offer opportunities for students to maximize and expedite job preparedness. NCTC is able to meet the current and future needs of Texas employers by focusing on training categories that have been identified nationally, statewide, and regionally as in-demand.

Accordingly, these career fields are listed as high-demand in at least one of the legislative service areas that is served by NCTC, which includes Denton, Cooke, Montague, and Young Counties. The curricula were designed under the TWC Fast Start II Grant during the grant period of August 29, 2014-February 29, 2016, and course information below is current as of the grant ending date.
