The Engineering Technology program at NCTC offers hands-on instruction using the latest releases of CAD software like AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Civil 3D, SolidWorks and others. The Autodesk suite is the industry-standard conrehensive software suite used around the world by today's design engineers, printed cirucuit board designers, architects and commercial interior designers. Solidworks is a widely used standard in 3D solid modeling. The instruction is designed to reinforce class lecture with demonstrations and laboratory exerice experience. Students work on projects and develop time management, teamwork, and communication skills.

Career Outlook

The training NCTC provides in the Engineering Technology program prepares students for positions such as civil, architectural, pipeline or automotive design drafter and technical illustrator in a variety of industries. Aircraft, architectural, and electronics firms, just to name a few, are in need of these services.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to earn a certificate or degree? add
The Engineering certificate can be earned in one year and the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) normally takes two years to complete. Students, however, may set their own pace.
Will this program transfer to a four-year university? add

Yes! The Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS) will transfer to several North Texas universities through AAS to BAAS transfer programs. For more information and a list of participating institutions, please review the AAS to BAAS Guided Pathways.
