Putting Education to Work in Montague County
Bowie Campus view with new signage

The NCTC Bowie Campus opened in 2000, and its presence has had a great impact on the lives of the Montague County citizens. Based in an area that serves a largely rural population with socioeconomic challenges, the need for higher education and skilled workforce training is essential for providing a bright future for Montague County citizens. Our campus is committed in its continuous outreach in order to enhance the lives of rural Texans.

About the Bowie Campus

Responding to the needs of the community, citizens of Bowie voted for a half-cent sales tax channeled through an economic development foundation. The 16,000 square foot, $2.196 million building opened in January 2000, marking a significant moment in the city's development. The beautiful structure is situated on picturesque property at the intersection of Mill Street and State Highway 287. The Bowie 4B, EDC, Bowie Economic Development Board, along with oil and gas industry partners then funded a 6560 sq. ft. expansion to the existing building accommodating a state-of-the-art training facility with a new library, a new Student Success Center, and new learning labs.

Connected With the Community

The Montague County Foundation Board, the county Chambers of Commerce, various civic and church organizations, local banking institutions, Bowie Memorial Hospital, and the City of Bowie are vital areas of support for the Bowie campus. Scholarships continue to grow because of the community's generosity and deep commitment to NCTC. The Bowie Memorial Hospital supports "This Week at NCTC," a weekly live radio show on KNTX-1410 AM.

Through communication and continued support of this campus, the hope is to spread the good news of opportunity and growth through higher education. These are exciting times and the Bowie campus is proud to be a part of the team that is "putting education to work" in Montague County.

A Modern Teaching Facility

The campus features five regular classrooms, three of which are furnished with distance education equipment that allows classes to be broadcast to or from remote locations. Other accommodations include a petroleum technology classroom (equipped with computers and a lab space), a computer lab, a science lab, a nursing simulation lab, a Library & Learning Resource Center, and a Student Success Center. The design and property size permits considerable expansion.
