Cecilia Salisbury was born in Bogotá, Columbia.
She holds a BA in Modern Languages and MA Degree in Applied
Linguistics, both from the University of Los Andes in
Bogotá. She also completed the course work and
comprehensive exams towards the Ph.D. in Humanities at
the University of Texas at Dallas. While living in Colombia,
Maria Cecilia taught at the University of Los Andes. Most
of her work there was dedicated to the teaching of Linguistics-related
courses, teacher training and Spanish as a Second Language.
In the United States, she has taught Spanish at Hobart
and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York and Austin
College in Sherman, Texas. She has been a faculty member
of NCTC since 1998. She lives in McKinney with her husband
