Bill Franklin has taught for NCTC since 1989 and has
led the Scotland Study
Tour since 2001. His interest in British Literature
dates back to the early influence of Robert Louis Stevenson's
Kidnapped and J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord
of the Rings, which led him into a lifelong study
of the history, literature and language of Britain.
He reads Spanish novels and poetry for fun, enjoying
Borges, Garcia Márquez and Perez Reverte when
he can find the time. He has traveled in Mexico many
times and looks forward to traveling in Spain and Portugal
(if Fate is kind!)
Dr. Franklin earned his PhD from the University of
North Texas in 1997, with a specialty in 18th Century
British Literature. he's especially fond of the work
of William Blake.
