Lisa Bellows completed her Bachelor's
and Master's Degree in Biology from TWU in Denton.
She currently serves as Science Department Chair at North Central
Texas College and teaches General Biology, Zoology, Botany,
and Environmental Science. Lisa is also engaged in a special
project of cataloging natural specimens at the Thomsen Foundation
in Forrestburg, Texas.
An avid Master Gardener, Lisa utilizes her skills through campus
beautification projects at North Central Texas College. She
currently serves as President of the Gainesville Independent
School Board and is very active in her church community, serving
as a lector and finance council member.
Lisa's passion for the outdoor environment is dependent on personal
experiences and observations during her rural childhood. Her
father was a rodeo stock producer packing her through the back
roads of various rodeo arenas in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico,
and Colorado. Her mother is retired from Saint Jo Independent
School District where she served long term as school librarian.
This is obviously where Lisa's roots in nature and academics
are derived.
More times than not, Lisa can be found outdoors on her hands
and knees with science students scouring the NCTC campus for
bugs, insects, wildflowers and various plants. She is widely
known by various thankful neighbors for trapping and properly
disposing of pesky animals such as skunks, coons, and snakes.
