A variety of musical performance groups give NCTC student an opportunity to display their talents. You do NOT have to be a music major to become a member of any of these groups; however, participation may require an audition and/or enrollment in a related class. Performance scholarships are available. For more information, contact the faculty director for the group in which you are interested.

Jazz Ensembles
The NCTC Jazz bands perform a varied repertoire (including Big Band Swing, Dixieland and Contemporary Jazz) through concerts in the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts. Band members come from throughout the North Texas-Southern Oklahoma region. Begun in 1998, the NCTC Jazz bands have received rave reviews and invariably perform to packed houses. The bands also take part in an annual tour, performing in a wide variety of concert venues including area high schools and the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival. Wind Ensemble
The NCTC Wind Ensemble is a performance based group specializing in contemporary Wind Band literature. The ensemble’s main objective is to provide performance opportunities beyond the high school level for traditional college students. The band highlights the works of composers such as Ticheli, Holsinger, and Sheldon. The Wind Ensemble holds several concerts annually including a joint Christmas concert with The NCTC College Singers. Students interested in auditioning should contact Marty Kobuck at (940) 668-3385. Competitive scholarships are available.
North Central Texas College Singers
The NCTC Singers have established a reputation for excellence over the years. The Singers perform on and off campus, frequently for area churches, civic organizations and community events. In recent years the Singers were selected to sing in the world renowned Myerson Symphony Center in Dallas with the King Singers. The Singers tour every other year and these tours have taken them to New York City where they sang in Carnegie Hall; Washington D.C., where they sang a concert in the Church of the Immaculate Conception; St. Louis, where they sang for a noon day Mass in the massive Cathedral; and in Boston, where they presented a concert in the historic Trinity Church. Through the years the Singers have had the chance to sing for sporting events such as the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. The Singers are an auditioned ensemble, and scholarships are available.
North Central Texas Chorale The North Central Texas Chorale is comprised of students and community people and focuses on larger works with orchestra. Recent performances include Handel's Messiah; the Mozart and Brahms Requiem; the Beethoven Mass in C Major; the Haydn Lord Nelson Mass and Te Deum; the Rutter Requiem and Magificat; and the Bach Magnificat. The Chorale tours extensively including performances in England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Austria, France and the Czeck Republic. In 2006 the Chorale will travel to Italy for concert in Rome, Florence and Venice. The chorale is open to any qualified singer.
