Marty Kobuck is the Instrumental Music Director at NCTC and has held that position since 2003.  He came to NCTC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master’s Degree in Performance/Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas.  While attending UNT, he also received credentials to teach music in the Texas public schools.

As a performer, Marty has traveled the globe.  These concerts include the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland, and a Mardi Gras performance at “Carnivale” in Nice, France.  His Jazz Ensemble won the Wichita Jazz Festival twice and he was a National finalist for the Collegiate Dixieland Band Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.

As a teacher, Marty has been recognized with Honor band performances at the University of Texas at Arlington, the Temple College Jazz Festival, and the 2000 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

Marty lives in Denton and is currently active as a free-lance musician; working with groups such as the Plano Repertory Theatre and Galen Jeter’s Original Dallas Jazz Orchestra.
