Art
instruction at NCTC, as a part of the academic-transfer program,
provides instruction in courses in the fundamentals of art, art
appreciation, and the mastery of artistic media that will transfer
to other colleges and universities or art institutes. These courses
include instruction in artistic design, art appreciation, and the
creation and execution of works of art in traditional and contemporary
media. Art courses also serve those non-transferring students who
make the decision to include some instruction in artistic appreciation
or expression in their community college experience as part of their
goal of personal enrichment. Art instruction also encompasses the
technical mission of the college in that students can take courses
here that will aid them in future careers in the fine arts, as well
as commercial and graphic art, one of the burgeoning fields in the
art world today.
